Capt. Nick Angelo specializes in fly fishing and light tackle fishing Tampa Bay and Florida’s Nature Coast. He is a patient, full-time, Florida native fishing guide. Fishing is not just his career, but a life long passion. Capt. Nick welcomes both novice and experienced anglers. Teaching is a major part of his job, and he enjoys sharing his knowledge of fly fishing and light tackle fishing, as well as the outdoors, with his anglers. Based out of Tampa Bay Florida, Capt. Nick Angelo offers unique and personalized fishing trips in two regions of Florida’s Gulf Coast, Tampa Bay and The Nature Coast. Both areas offer wonderfully diverse fisheries. A variety of popular fish species such as redfish, tarpon, snook, jacks, and seatrout can be pursued while fly fishing Tampa Bay and The Nature Coast. Capt. Nick uses a fully customized Hell’s Bay Boatworks poling skiff, as well as a custom Aluminum skiff “mud boat” to traverse the many flats, bays, and tidal creeks found among these two fisheries.
Tampa Bay is the largest open-water estuary in Florida. There are over 200 species of fish found in or around the bay and its crystal clear beaches. Among those are the popular fish we love to pursue on fly and light tackle gear. Tarpon, snook, redfish, seatrout, mackerel, snapper, grouper, false albacore, and jacks are just a few of the fish available to catch in Tampa Bay. Other marine animals available for viewing include Manatees, dolphins, birds, and sea turtles will highlight you fishing trip.
Tampa Bay has become a fantastic fishery thanks to extreme conservation measures. It is easily accessible from the towns and cities listed above, as well as nearby Orlando. Fly fishing Tampa bay from a flats boat is a great way to experience it. There may be opportunities to sight cast for redfish and tarpon in clear water, or throw a fly along the mangroves for snook. For less technical fishing, working the deeper grass flats for seatrout, jacks, mackerel, ladyfish and other species with flies or jigs is usually a good way to bend a rod, and have some fun. Fishing Tampa Bay is available year round.
Fall and winter trips available for fishing “Florida’s marsh”
Fish a part of Florida where the mangroves end and the salt marsh begins. Explore miles of spring fed rivers and creeks, sand shoals, oyster bars, shallow bays, and grassy shorelines studded with mangroves shaping the landscape. Along this unique stretch of coastline, anglers target redfish, seatrout, jacks, black drum and the most northern range of snook.
During the late fall and winter as air temps cool, shallow waters become clear and we have desirable tides for fishing. Capt Nick will use a custom aluminum skiff with a surface drive or “mud boat” to access fish in hard to reach places. (typically limited to 1 angler per trip) Reach out for the seasonal availability of these trips before they are fully booked.
